Description

Limited edition. This book is the third in the Parsons' 'Homage' series, which gathers the author's writings on the special fishing places he has known for up to 40 years. This one, the Waipunga, in the hills between Taupo and Napier, gave the author the fishing he loved best - sometimes in the shallow, upland valley above the Waipunga Falls, and sometimes in the deeper-cut valley below, with its rapid, rocky and boulder-strewn course. Challenges a-plenty test the angler, expecially the fighting spirit of the trout. As usual, friends, birds, insects, scenery, weather and the changing seasons colour Parsons' tales, adding immeasureably to his enjoyment of the sport. The book collects the stories he first wrote for magazines and then published in some of his books, now out of print. So he thought he would bring all the Waipunga stories together as a tribute to the river and all who, like him, value the fishery, orwho may in future fish the stream and capture for themselves the essence of wild trout, in a wild river, in the rugged Ahimanawa Hills.
